G2 carb adjustments

Well got the ol' Donkey put back together after building a new sub frame for the rear end to bolt too. I'm very very happy with how sturdy and solid it all feels now. It's more solid then when I got it. To be fair the cross member was cracked and poorly patched. A problem that escalated when my lift went on. All in all I'm exstatic just to have it running again. I need to dial in my carb tho. There is a screw on the bottom of the bowl with a spring on it and there is another on the top going straight in. Any one know what the screws effect?

Screw on the bottom of the bowl with a spring is likely a main jet someone put in it to adjust it. Too lean will bog when you gas it and be coldblooded, too rich will make the spark plug black and really rich will make black smoke from exhaust. Most have a jet in there and you can't adjust. Screw at very top of carb holds throttle open that is idle speed. Screw usually on angle just under that is idle mixture. It only affects 0-10% throttle opening or so, making it a little richer than stock can help it start better and start without choke in summer (if you don't floor it at start).

Hey Jc I concur with sho except the screw in the bottom of the bowl with the spring , i believe thats the bowl drain.keep that one tight or you could have what we call in the british car trade a "thermal event"!
