G1 help
Ok guys and girls. I once again picked up a new toy. 1980 G1 but this one has me stumped. Its wasn’t running when I got it. The guy told me that it was board out and the carb was dilled out. It seemed to have low compression so I pulled the top end off. It was a standard boar an one ring was stuck. So I got new rings an gaskets and fired up. I been playing with the carb an trying to get it right but no matter what jet I put in it the cart seems to flood out on top end. I adjusted the float and cleaned out every jet on port on it. It still seems to take off slow and load up when you do get it on top end. So any ideas would be great thanks.

Re: G1 help
Sounds like the drilling mod was unsuccesfull. I would get a stock main jet and try that. The air fuel mix has to stay within a certain range to operate correctly and if the main jet was drilled out but there has not been any provision made for more air to complement the fuel then you have the flooded condition you describe.

Re: G1 help
Yeah I agree. I got a new Jew. I think the stick was a 100 but I have a bunch that I had tried. I'm kinda wondering if that power Reed might be bad. I was looking at them an they are staying open a little. There nit shut completely like I thought it would. That might be robbing power from it. Right?

They might be bad but i believe they do stay open just a bit. In any case i would try one thing at a time and see how it goes.

Re: G1 help
That's what I been doing. This is my 3 G1 and haven't ran into this yet. I think I will replace the reeds an see how it runs. All in time an a little at a time. I even thought about running a ground to the coil an seeing if it helps. Maybe the spark is just not strong enough to fire the fuel it needs to run the top end
