Hard starting G-1 (when warm)
Hey, can anyone give me some advice on how to trouble shoot a problem I am having with my G-1. She starts and runs great when I first start her up. But after running for 10 minutes or so I have a hard time getting her to start up. Seems worse in reverse but she just put puts for 10 to 20 seconds and finally takes off. She runs fine then till I stop and then hard start again. Also I smell gas. Compression is good, I rebuilt her last year. I am thinking carb. I took it off and cleaned everything but no change. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bill

Re: Hard starting G-1 (when warm)
Maybe the float needs adjustment or a little crud in the seat is
causing rich running? That would cause easy cold start but rich warm start. |

Re: Hard starting G-1 (when warm)
Thanks. I have thought it most likely is in the carb. somewhere. I will buy a rebuild kit and check on that float too. I don't have the original air cleaner just a foam one that fits directly on the carb. intake. What are your thoughts on that?

Re: Hard starting G-1 (when warm)
you can do a compression test and see if it holds static pressure for atleast 2-3 min should be around a 100 psi at least 120 is what you should see!!! less than that is not enough to operate properly .. i knew when mine blew ...lol it backfired real loud and then sounded like a weird exhaust leak ... it sounded like it was pootin....lol

Re: Hard starting G-1 (when warm)
I did a compression check and got 105. I will go back and see if it holds that number for 2-3 minutes. I put new seals in last year. Thnanks
