Default yamaha g2 carb spacer. Plastic junk!

Im on my second brand new joint spacer. I cracked this one as well during the install. You can barely torque the carb to it without it cracking. I put maybe 3 pounds of torque to the bolts while tightenin it down the first time (CARB TO JOINT) and i heard it crack and saw the crack. I bought another one and figured i would go extra light. Well that one cracked too. How the heck are you supposed to get these to seal if you cant torque them past finger tight? these are spacers from buggies unlimited. Any help will be appreciated. thank you. Golf cart backfires now so im assuming its becuase of crack. i have a new carb on as well

Yes OEM's can break/crack also, but with only 3 lbs of torque they wont.

Just enough to start to crush a new gasket. Doubt its even a pound.

Also need to insist on "Genuine Yamaha Parts" always!!

Are you using gaskets with the spacer?? You need to be if your not. Put a little gasket sealer on the gaskets, barely tighten it, and let it seal. As soon as you feel it snug, stop. Run your finger around the carb plate and intake plate and make sure it doesn't have a bur or feel warped or something. These things shouldn't break this easily.

My OEM one cracked but the tube on the inside was intact. I glued it and zip tied it. I've been meaning to replace it but it isn't giving me any problems.

Short, new gaskets as well! So you don't have to tighten the nuts as tight.
