Default Anyone ever installed a brake light switch?

Hey everyone I have a gas G16 that I plan on putting dual-filament tail-lights on and was wondering if anyone has placed a switch of some sort of switch under the floorboard that is activate by the brake pedal. I was thinking of maybe trying to find a place to install a microswitch to where the brake pedal linkage rests against it when the pedal is released, then have a relay wired up to trigger the brake lights once the pedal is depressed and the lever on the microswitch is in the "open" position.

Any ideas/pictures would be really appreciated!

I was just looking and something like this may be easier to do since microswitch levers can be pretty finicky if things aren't lined up absolutely perfectly:

Oh, perfect thanks Camaro. So I'll just weld in a bracket to hold the switch, attach the spring to brake pedal somewhere, and call it done (except for the wiring part of course). :)

Heres mine I used a 50's or so brake light switch from a chevy pick up. Made a bracket then drilled and bolted it for adjustment.

This is where both cables attach to the brake rod that runs to the front. Make a bracket and put between the jam nut and nut on the brake rod then drill a hole in the part of frame under the brake rod put the lever of the switch through the hole and mark and drill the mounting holes for the switch itself. It's wired so when you push the pedal the switch moves and the brake lights come on. You do need to wire it through the key switch so the brake lights don't stay on, just turn the key switch off!!!!! Cost should be less than 10.00, hope this helps.

Thanks for the info Lurch! Yeah they way you described, placing it near the back of the brake actuator rod sounds pretty ideal.

Yeah I think I'm going to run a relay off the ignition switch, to a fuse block, then to my accessories (lights, 12v power port(s), stereo, etc.). Good thought about running it through the ignition switch ;)
