Question G22 Predator engine change from Yamaha

I am replacing my stock Yamaha engine with a Predator 420cc due to broken cam shaft. I could really use some pointers on this task. I have read several post leading up to this about shaft adaptor, hose barb in valve cover, raising motor to level it up, governor, N-S hop up kit, and several others.

For my application I would like to add the stage 1 hop up kit from N-S.
I have purchsed the shaft adaptor, but before cutting or drilling I would like some help from you experts that have already blazed this trail for guys like me. I have set the motor in mounting area, obviously there are mounting changes, for the rest I am depending you guys.
Thank You for your consideration in helping this poor lost cart buddy.

Ed, I am sorry to say this but you better do a lot of reading
over in the big block section and follow some of the builds there.
we see a lot of these projects started and are now parts piles in the corner.

I'm starting on my second one. Not sure on the kit I looked at it. This one I had the head milled .050 and ported a little. Bought a 4 degree key for timing. Bought new takeout GX200 springs for cheap to drop inside the stock ones for more spring. Will put a larger airbox and exhaust on of course, should run a little better than stock. You need a flywheel to run more rpm they break I'm told, however golf carts don't get the rpm karts do, unless you floor it down a hill....which I will not be doing.

My advice is by the clone with the airbox above the carb, it makes attaching a remote box much easier. I used one out of a car filters are $7, it was $10 at a boneyard to buy. In a G2/9 there is very little room in front of the carb. I'd say make a thread in the clone section for a build. One guy took the stock carb hose and cut off a 90, then ran pvc to in front of the motor and cut another 90, then attached the stock G9 airbox. Not perfect but ideal. I assume that stuff will not flow enough air, I did have to jet the clone much richer with the car size airbox and exhaust.

click on my screen name and select "view public profile". the picture albums will be on the right side of the page. (look at the one with the cart painted blue) My set up will be different than what it appears you are doing.
I swapped out the rear axle assy and use a combination of a belt drive torque converter and a jackshaft with gears and chains to connect my engine to the axle. I think you are wanting to use stock axle set up with the adapted drive clutch mounted to your engine correct? if so, Sho305 is setting his up like yours. Select the link in his response to see his setup.

Predator 420cc
Well I have started my replacement engine project. Modifications so far have been mild enough to work through. I have fabricated a new motor mount plate & bolted it in the original holes, I raised back of mount up 2.5 " to keep motor level. Have not mounted motor on it yet. Waiting to see how far back it will need to be, I definately will need a longer belt. Might need help on finding belt.
Pulse fuel pump vacuum hose barb is in place, had an extra spacer from old carb. Drilled & tapped for perfect placement.
Clutch is on shaft and ready for final tightening. I cut... 1 3/8"... off of shaft after drilling & tapping shaft to accept original 1/2"...20 TPI bolt. This allowed my CPP tapered sleeve to butt up against shoulder of shaft with no need for spacer, although spacer was provived by CPP.
After removal of throttle/governor plate, I fabricated bracket to accept starter/generator from original yamaha set up. Used holes & bolts from t/g plate that was removed.
Things left to do:
1) Find longer drive belt
2) Mount engine on plate according to belt length
3) Fab throttle cable mounting bracket & choke cable
4) Hook up fuel line & vacuum line
5) Remove Predator electric start wires & wire into original starter
6) Fab up exhaust header

Check to see what I have left out.
If I order NR Race hop up kit there will be a little more to do.
Thanks for your help.

We are about at the same spot, I'm going to start a thread in big block on my clone. But this is my second one so its a little easier. To me the exhaust/airbox/cables were the most time consuming.
