Default Wheel bearing ???

I had my cart up on the lift today working on it and noticed some up and down play in the driver's side axle, if the nut is tight would that lead you to think the axle bearing is bad? The right side tight no movement at all.
If it is bad how do you get it out, is a puller needed or will it come out when you take the axle nut off?

Thanks for your help, LURCH!!!!!!

Lurch, if its a rear axle bearing, Smallblock says to pull the rear hub, turn it around, put the nut back on, then jerk on it to dislodge the axle. Then said the bearing is not hard to get off, no press needed! I don't know, probably self explanatory when you get in there.

Thanks Mike I hope its not the hub, got the bearing ordered today.

I got the new coil and plug wire extender on, the tach hooked up and its working great. The tach reads within 25 rpms of the engine, works real good!!! Waiting on a longer brake cable before I can drive it, the drivers side was to short after I droped the front of the swing arm.

The rear bearings are cake. I'd also replace the axle seals behind the bearings while you're in there. But yeah depending on what brake setup you have, once the hub no longer has anything attached to it you can just simply tap it out from the back side with a mallet. The bearings may stick to the axle when you draw the axle out, or they might stick inside the axle housing. Either way, you'll be able to free up the bearing with your hand/fingers and slide the new one in place. The only hard part is removing the internal snap rings that hold the bearings in place... you'll probably fight them for a few minutes until you find the best method (I get some assistance with a flat-blade screw driver) to get them out of place.

Thanks, someone said it was probably the hub instead of the bearing are there any way to check? I've got the bearing on its way and may need to get a hub to. Thanks again for everyone's help, LURCH!!!!!
