Default G9 connecting rod hitting balancing shaft counterweight

I'm in the process of rebuilding my G9 engine. I ran it low on oil & the balancing shaft started to seize, but what happened also is the connecting rod nut hit the counterweight & kept the crank from turning. The issue is still present & keeping me from going any further. Has anyone experienced this? It appears to me that the gear may have moved when it seized. Does this sound possible? I'm even contemplating leaving the balancincing shaft out which I read in another post/reply. Thanks in advance

I left the balancer out of my first G9 and its still running over a year later. The cart is in Texas with my dad now, and he drives it every day.

Cool Re: G9 connecting rod hitting balancing shaft counterweight

Thanks for your reply I made it easier to make my decision to leave it out. Everything went great with the rebuild & it's running great. It seems as though it has a bit more power & I honestly can't tell if it's vibrating more than it did before. Most of all no bluish black smoke anymore from the exhaust. It's funny how things come back to you after 20 years. I was accustomed to doing full rebuilds on all types of auto engines & even some race motors. Thanks again
