Shifting.
On my recently aquired G14, I've noticed that it's easier to shift from forward to reverse (or vice-versa) if the brake is not applied, and the cart is able to freewheel somewhat. Is this normal?
We don't see it as a problem, we just make sure the brake is off and it shifts fine. This is our first golf cart so forgive me if this is an obvious or normal thing. |

Re: Shifting.
There are 2 large cogs that have to slip into slots in the gears, for each direction, so yes, that might be normal. You can slip the rubber boots back at the shifter, and lube the cables, as well as the shifter shaft. Making things slide a bit easier.
I rarely set the brake, I just roll it into a rut or something, so it stays put. |

Re: Shifting.
Sometimes you may even need to rock the cart to get it to fully shift.Mine will shift to Forward or Reverse easily, but then when you start it,you feel a slight clunk, nothing to be concerned with, its' just the nature of a sliding-gear setup.I never use the brake on mine either.Hope this helps

Re: Shifting.
Excellent, thanks guys. We did rock it once in a while to make it easier. Mental note: park in a rut.
