Default Chance at a G1

Hello everyone,

I have a chance to get a G1. The guy says it's an 87, but I haven't seen it in person yet. I am told it runs, but may need some carb work. I have zero experience with golf carts and my wife and I are looking for our first one.

I think he wants $800 for it. What do you think? Is it worth it?

Welcome to BGW!!

G1 is a 2 stroke engine. I think you would be better off with a 4 stroke cart. G2 and up.

I agree with "The New Guy". $800 sounds steep too.

Keep looking and be patient, decent carts pop up all the time on "craigs List" or even eBay.

I like the two stroke but he is too high, Two strokes need top end work every few years and that one probably does now. I would offer $250.00 or maybe $300.00 or run away quickly!

It's really hard to find a good/solid golf car for 800.00. From your pic's...looks like alot of work and money would be needed till "your wife and you" would be proud riding on it. Don't get me wrong a "solid" G1 ,could be a very fun car, but remember....They stopped building 2 cycle golf cars because of there nature..."to smoke and smell". I still feel that the 2 cycles were the best engine for a golf car....Why ? no need for a transmission that needs cables and a lever to create forward and reverse, the engine will run in both directions (you can't do that with a 4 cycle). Since your new,,,like posts mentioned...take your time and buy the newest car you can afford. There are so many upgrade parts available for the newer cars. Good luck on your search. Later Dave

I would recommend sticking with Yamaha. I personally think there the best, because they are!!

The G2/G9 Yamaha's are very tough and are hard to kill. And as Small block was pointing out there is a load of performance parts and upgrades for them.
