Default G2 with high speed gears and torque power spring?

So I have an 89 Yamaha g2 that I'm going to lift. I already bypassed the governor and did a full tune up. Gps it's running 20-22. Probably going jakes long travel with 23" tires I already have. Would speed gears along with the torque power kit be a good idea? Right now it's struggling getting up hills :(
Any help or ideas from you pros would help!

I don't think tall gears are good in anything! The rest of your ideas are good tho.

Does it matter or help to get the kit with the sheave or just get the one with spring and spacer?

Z, in my limited experience, i have got just a concierge spring with what was a new stock sheave at the time. And i havent run across anything thats been able to even slow my car down yet! So bout the only thing I might be able to tell you is, doing a Plowmans spring might be the safe way to go. But I'm happy with my setup, and I use my car off road alot!

Toque power kit good idea. High speed gears not so good. I did a Yamaha g16 for a customer had 6 inch lift 22 inch tires high speed gears and the toque kit and it was fast but didn't have much power to pull the slightest hills. But it was fast lol and it took it a bit to get there.

I have a Plowman's power kit, very happy with it. The cut sheaves really help keep the engine in the power when pulling or going up hill. It also helps it to downshift when slowing down. The angle of the sheaves are increased which allows the belt to ride lower for longer and shift out quicker when accelerating. You can't really go wrong with this setup, doesn't have any downside except the cost.

I can tell you the cut sheaves work well, they give a lower gear on takeoff and also allow it to rev faster when you take off. I don't like the springs but that is just me. I stretched mine out longer and put it back in, but might buy the yama one some day lol. You can also try the HD kevlar belt it rides higher like the cut sheave does, its a little wider. Check your tension cable under the gen pulley, get a hand gps and tighten it up until you lose speed then back it off until usual top speed (with no governor, not sure how else you do it). Should have good hill power then. You only have 9.5hp, put a larger engine in is the real answer but a project for sure. I put HS gears in a CC once and it went about same speed as lifted/22 cart, it did 28 on a gps hitting the rev limit. More gear takes away torque, that is bad for hills and acceleration. Most only use them for non lifted carts and bigblocked lifted carts. Most of the BB carts get them to lower rpm on the road not to go super fast. You need a cart with serious suspension to go fast and keep the wheels on the ground.

Also make sure your clutches are clean and lubed up, and operating correctly. Nobody services them and they work way better when they work properly. You should check the weights/pins/rollers you have in the primary for wear. I think most carts they don't work right is half the problem, from dirt and neglect. Then you don't get all that glorious 9.5hp to the ground.
