Default g-9 question

Well as i said before when you ride my cart then come to a stop it doesnt want to go until it cools off. the air shroud fan has the top meltted off it . I have a new one coming.
Last night I drove it a little and it did it so I opened the hatch you cant imagine the heat under the seat. Well I started the cart and you can feel hot air coming out of the hole big time. I am guessing the hot air is getting the fuel pump and fuel to warm . That is the reason i think as soon as it cools off for a couple minutes it runs great. I will have the new parts on by the weekend I hope this fixes the issue.
DOES THIS MAKE SINCE TO YOU PROS? I know on my race car cool fuel makes it run way better.

Also should I put something under the muffler so it doesnt melt the shroud?

Wait a minute, think you should take all the cooling shroud off and check for debree packed around the cylinder, (mud, birds nest etc). Should not get that hot.

Mike has a good point as well. Check for all that crud as well. After you check the easiest stuff first. After it shuts down on you pull the coil wire and see if it quits firing first. Dont go and buy.anything.just.yet

Yeah why is it so hot, they get warm but never should melt anything. Ignition timing could be off (not sure how), dirty cooling fins, fan problem, lean jetting, valve issue maybe.

Sho was the one that brought to my attention that, a leaking valve cover gasket can collect dust and stick in the cooling fins. That and nests from critters is what I would say is the leading culprit on overheating problems. Need to make sure the cylinder and head area is clean, and no oil leaks anywhere.

There is another condition where the CDI ignition will shut down when it gets warm. Then it will run again after it cools down. I had that problem when I first got my car, and had to replace it.

Is the car hard to push, like draging brakes, or something hard to turn in the tranny?

Mine melted some of the shroud. It was being driven on the farm and I didn't know what was going on. It ended up getting so hot it slipped a valve guide. It turned out to be a leaking head gasket. It was running fair enough, but the hot gasses coming out from the head melted the shrouds. Had to fix the shroud with fiberglass and had to get the head resurfaced along with replacing the valve guide and valve. I hope it is just trash in the shroud, it seems if it can be the worst thing to go wrong I'll get it. Good luck.

the shroud was melted when I bought it .

The motor has no oil leaks what so ever is clean as any cart I have seen.

The machine runs great when you're going but when you stop it won't start and take off unless you barley touch the pedal and I mean barley then it will finally go. Or you let the machine set for a bit. I took the fuel line off the carb and pushed the pedal when it started gas barley came out. I took my buddies gas line off pushed his pedal and his shot fuel out.
My question is this on a race car if fuel pressure was low or pump going bad it would run good wide open. My cart runs great wide open unil you stop the wont go until cools off. Is it possible the pump is vapor locking or worn-out?

DO YOU GUYS THINK I SHOULD ORDER A NEW FUEL PUMP

First check all those lines for cracks that is common, the fuel line and the pulse lines that run the pump. You can get diaphragms for the pumps. It should gush out on every revolution of the starter from the carb fuel line if you take it off or something is not right. They take very little fuel so it has to get near none to not run. Far as not starting I would put a new plug in the ngk #2 for newer yamaha carts, clean the carb, make sure the airbox is sealed good, see what you have then after checking or replacing the fuel and pulse lines. Lean fuel mixture (from lack of fuel or dirty carb or leaky airbox) could make it run hot I just doubt hot enough to melt something but who knows. You do get air flow out of the side of cowling when you rev it some in neutral right? So if air is flowing and no dirt in there the cooling is working that means something is making it hot.
