Default Brake sticking or clutch on g-16

My cart has jerking at speed. I am unsure if it clutch or something else. I took the clutch cover off and found one flat spot and discolored roller. Today a friend who works on snowmobiles look at the clutch. He said it needs to be fixed but he does not think it is the cause of the jerking. He think it is in the brakes. His reasoning is when it jerks the belt drops down in the primary and raises in the secondary. It does look like something is trying to stop the clutch. My question is how can test this since it only happens at speed. Has anyone had a similar brake problem,or should I stay with the clutch.

I would think if a brake is dragging it will be dragging all the time. I would fix the clutch and check your drive belt. A worn loose belt could cause problems.

I Think you are right. It is in the clutch. I do not think it is the belt it was new this spring. It looks more like something binding than the belt slipping.

A belt that is too loose could cause jerking. The belt should have about 1-1/2" deflection in the center between the clutches.
