Hello,
Can someone tell me how to remove the steering wheel on my G16? I've tried everything from a large gear puller to hitting the thing from behind with a large screwdriver and hammer. The thing wont budge. Also, I'm trying to recenter the wheel so that it straight when the cart drives straight? Is there anything I need to do to properly align the wheels with steering wheel? Perhaps its an alignment problem. Your help is great appreciated. Jay |

Soak with a good penetrating oil and knock the crap out of it with a rubber mallet. If this doesn't work, use a puller. You may need to heat up the shaft a bit, just be careful.

Welcome imoveteeth! You wouldn't be a orthodontist would you?
One way that has worked for me is to leave the big nut on and only back it off from bottomed out about half a turn. Make sure no threads are visible from the top, so you won't flatten them out, and smack it with large ball peen hammer or other big hammer. What happens is the steering shaft will go down ever so slightly and the wheel will come loose. Soak it overnight with some penetrating oil like "knock er loose" or "liquid wrench" before trying this. Good Luck! |
