Sounds like an overhaul or an engine swap. If it were me and I was doing the overhaul, I would inspect/replace everything. Done right with quality parts you will have many years of worry free service.

Sorry it didn't get better ! Ron always has great insight, First does it sound like a "noisy" lower end (crank/rod noise or bearings bad noise?).....remove/disassemble/inspect. In my experiance...your oil rings have gone bad. When disassembling...Make your own marks on the balancer to get back into "time". The cam mark is pretty good, the balancer mark was painted on. Alot of times a good "hone" and new rings along with a good "decarbing" the cylinder head and valves/"lapping" the valves and installing new valve stem seals (Yamaha only put a valve stem seal on the intake) will give you a strong non smoking engine that will give you many years of service. To be frank....if you have to bore the block/oversized piston/rings/new rod/crank/bearings ect......I'd be looking at a Big Block conversion. You'd put a smile on your face evertime you fired it up and CPP/Tom's conversions are easy to install. Hoped this helped..Or confussed the "H**l" out of you! Let us know what you decide. Dave

Man I would love nothing more then to get a Big Block in it but I am only 15 so It will take me a while to save up for it. Question can I just buy the Engine and make my own mount for the big block and also do I need to get the new clutch or will mine work just fine. Also if I were to rebuild it how much would that cost?
Thanks guys

15 !!! I was just braking my Honda motorcycle at that age! And that's when my dad said....you brake it..you pay and fix it! Brings back great memories! Really..does the lower end of the engine sound noisy or sound ? If it sound's ok I'd tear down hone and install new rings and valve work. rings ? 25.00 bucks/gaskets another 25.00 ........Save your money and take your "best girl" to a dance or dinner. You have the rest of your life to build "toy's" ! Good luck my freind. Later dave

Ya I have already been there with the Honda Dirt bike. Thats why I am working on my Golf Cart last weekend I dumped my bike on the Rubricon and punched a nice whole in the the case. I do hear a knocking in the bottom end about half throttle. Its funny you say that about the special girl she is the one pushing me to get the bigger motor right now. In fact right now she is driving it around the back yard and I am teaching her how to back it up with a trailer on it,
Thanks
Nick

As far as what it would cost to re-build, contact one of our site sponsors they will be glad to help you out.

Well every one I finally did a compression test on it and the Max we could get out of it was 100. I think that is low but I don't know. Second We pulled the spark plug and it was all craped up with oil, so we cleaned it off and went for a spin around the parking lot and we didn't even get half way back before the spark plug got all plugged up and the cart died. So what do you all think it is? We stared the tear down but we only had like 30 min because I am working on it at my schools auto shop and we had a short day today. But at a first glance the cylinder look likes it doesn't come off the block? Am I missing something here? So right now I am taking more suggestion,
Thanks again,
Nick

Nick...look at my post..#12 I think. Sounds like collapsed oil rings. Yes the cylinder is part of the block. Just hone it and put a standard set of rings in and measure ring end gap...if in specs...good to go. When I rering I dont even pull the crank, I just make shure the hone doesnt hit it. Later Dave
