G16 drive belt
i have replaced the drive belt and it looks like the edges of the belt have frayed a little after short driving. would the secondary clutch cause this?
thanks, Finman |

Re: G16 drive belt
I would think there would have to be some damage to the pulleys for it to fray them that quick, are you sure the belts not rubbing on something else close to it?

Re: G16 drive belt

Re: G16 drive belt
I'm new here too Finman..I don't think a wider belt would make much of a diff on how it rides on the pulleys. Maybe someone else with more experience will chime in and be able to help you. I had mine up on jack stands when I was waiting on new tires & wheels so I decided to fire it up and run it through it's gearing just to get a better feel on how it works, maybe you could check it that way just to see if it is working as it should.."SAFELY" though!

Re: G16 drive belt
I think i figured out the fraying of the belt on both sides. when in neutral, i can throttle it up and when the drive clutch compresses, the belt comes up to the very edge and the top of the belt is sticking above the clutch. I pulled the clutch cover off and noticed the rollers had flat spots on it.
Looks like i need to pull the clutch off and send it to Plowmans to have it rebuilt. thanks, Fin |

Re: G16 drive belt
i thought of that. i think i want the clutch gone through to make sure its all good. Plus, i am not real sure how you disassemble it.
