How to do speed adjustment on YDRA 2012 FI
The 2012/2013 PTV with Fuel Injection has a slight variation. Talked to the Yamaha dealer I bought mine from to get this verified. Yamaha will not allow them to make this change but they told me what to do. All you need to do is take a 10mm wrench and turn the nut clockwise to increase speed. They strongly recommend to leave several turns of the nut left to go. Prolonged high speed use of the engine might lead to potential problems. This is far easier than some of the write-ups I have seen.
Here is what I did that worked for me - 1) Removed the rear access panel on the back of the cart 2) Lifted off the front seat and set it aside 3) With the keys off and out of the ignition, I pressed the accelerator, this moved the nut to where it was easier for me to get to it 4) I came in from the front of the cart to make the adjustment because I have a folding bench seat installed with somewhat blocked access from the back of the cart 5) I turned the nut clockwise until there was about 4 rows of threads left before the nut came to a dead stop Took a test run and the engine speed was much more to what I was expecting. I am a Shriner in Kansas City and this will be used when we are in Parades or doing public fundraisers where we are helping with crowd control. Dont think I will need full speed all the time but when it is needed, it is nice to know it is there when I need it. |

Waking the dead here, but you can use a zip tie to achieve the same results. Just squeeze the spring and then tighten the zip tie where you would like the spring to stop. Then if you wanna return it to the factory governed speed just cut the zip tie and spring will stop on the nut again. Fast and easy and no long intervals leaning over inside the cart wrenching for what seems forever on the 10mm nut. Hope this helps.

I'm trying zip tie on my in the spring. Then if the son drives it I can cut it.

the Zip tie works great. I would do this esp if your cart is under warranty.
I have actually had a REP visit my dealer due to a seized engine. HE measured the adjustment of the governor. Guess what. the owner tightened the 10mm nut out of spec and the warranty was denied on his motor. carts was 2.5 yrs old and had less than 100 hrs of run time. Just an idea. Zip tie will leave no marks either. a wrench on the nut will. |

If adjusting the governor all the way just have to use common sense not to be wide open on ghe pedal for long periods of time especially down a hill. Let your ears be the judge or buy a tiny tach a d mount it on the dash somewhere just to be sure not to over rev the engine.
