had something like that with a new plug for some reason the porcelain where it came in contact with base came loos which when compression stroke it would move up very slightly and on down stroke it moved back to the original poison this movement was very very slight. Also check obstructions in exhaust.
try using a old Windex spray bottle with 2 cyl gas spray directly into the crab. if it starts and runs just for a couple seconds you have a plunged gas problem some where in the system. if it still will not start try removing the plug place so plug base in good contact to motor block reattach plug wire ( do not try to hold the plug in place with your hand or with any unlisted tool) turn over the motor with the starter you should see a very good spark on electrodes.
I wold also make sure you coil has a very ground from you battery as well as to the frame. one wire wiring systems due not work all the time!

I didnt check compression. what should it read? I did cover the cylindar hole with my thumb and it wont blow your thumb off at all. I read on some posts that the crank seals are also used for compression?? Never messed with this engine but looking forward to learning.

When you plug the hole, are you having the starter turn it over or by your hand? Compression should be over 110 pounds

If you don't have compression it won't start. You should have in the neighborhood of 120 lbs.

Cool Re: g1 wont start

There is one thing I did not include that pledged me,
was a wing problem that comes out of the fly wheal area the ground wire was broken and the plugins wires were loss I think there 3 or 4 wires battery side rear of motor bottom of motor. vibration of motor might have cause connecters to loosen.
