New solenoid replacement... any donors?
$60 for a new unit is not the end of the world if needed. Just wondering if anyone knows of an older vehicle donor unit I can replace with instead? $10-20 at the auto store and available now is worth a post.

Automotive solenoid are momentary contactors.
Golf Cart Solenoids are continuous duty contactors. The automotive type will last a short while. Also you need one rated for the voltage you will be using. |

Re: New solenoid replacement... any donors?
You can use Automotive-style solenoids, but they must be a Continuous-Duty such as for a Snow-Plow,Lift-Gate,or Electric Dump-Pump(like small dump-trucks and dump-trailers use).I've used these for years with no problems. They are usually priced from $15-$25 at Truck Equipment suppliers.Try to avoid the low-priced S.A.M. units, they aren't very good.Hope this helps.
