Default G1 repairs (pics)

As some of you know, I went to get a G1 for my kids to ride around on. It has been sitting for about 4 years. PO said it was a fuel delivery problem and they removed the fuel pump and stopped there. I got the carb taken off and cleaned the jets with brake parts spray and pipe cleaners. I have the fuel pump sitting in a cup with a few drops of 2 stroke oil in it to soften up the diaphragms. I have strong spark and good compression. Going to flush out the fuel tank and oil injection tank tomorrow morning!!

I am also curious on what to set the mixture screw for the oil also... I made an arrow to the screw in question. Ess, if you're cruising BGW, stop in and gimmie some tips. A hose clamp is holding the throttle arm spring. A pic of the rear diff where the ful pump is located. I'm confused of the 3 hose connections on the fuel pump itself?? Also, can I replace the fuel/oil lines with regular rubber or do I need the original hard, plastic 33 year old piping? PO also had a filter on the oil line that goes to the pump. See pics and feel free to ask questions!! Sorry for so many questions from me but, I haven't seen a G1 in 4 years. My other one was in great shape and didn't need much work!!

Thanks in advance!!

Tonka

I had the about the same story on mine, replaced all the fuel lines with clear fuel hoses, had to flush the tank and when I went to clean the carb and the fuel pump they were full of a white powdery sh##. Soaked the carb in carb cleaner overnite, reassembled it and it's been working fine, the pump on the other hand I never could get to work so I bought an aftermarket one at the lawn mower shop, hooked it up and it ran fine. The new pump was marked- In, Out, and Vac, sorry I don't remember if the stock one was marked. On the oil pump I couldn't get it to prime, it was completely empty when I got the cart, so I just disconnected it and use premix. Do you have a manual? If not PM me with your e-mail and I'll send you a copy.

Tonka in your pic, the hose in the middle is the vacuum line from under the reed valve block, the one on the bottom with the elbow is from the fuel tank, the top one goes to the carb. The fuel pump bolts to the air box side of the brackets on the rear, with the vacuum side toward the clutch. You can blow into the pump to check inlet and outlet, but the pump should have arrows on it.

Tonka, dont worry about where to mount the pump. It doesnt matter where you mount it as long as it's plumbed correctly.
I would still go buy a new one, and mount it where you can. Then drive the wheels off it

In your third pic. were the hose coming out of the rear is, there's a tab with a screw in it. There should be another below it. It mounts there. I just mounted mine to the fender near the fuel tank, it's for a briggs v twin

Sounds good Scot! I think I am making this harder than what it needs to be! Here is a pic I hope the new pump will be labeled!!
