I envy you, living in Santa Cruz. Love Cruz and Santa Barbara. Seems the engine has been changed in your car. Starting in 1983 and up, Yamaha used what is called an "air chamber" with a hose connected to that outlet and also the intake manifold joint. Since yours doesn't have those, plug that outlet fitting anyway you can. It will let crankcase pressure out, witch you dont want.

That's the pilot jet, not adjustable, just screw it in. PM me your address and I'll mail you one. They still have vampires on the Santa Cruz board walk

It's a 79/80/81 car. The serial # could be on the main frame tube (between the rear upper shock mounts) or on the main frame member (were the rear bumper brackets bolt to). Will start with J10-xxxxx. Pilot jet got mailed today.

She is running (( with choke in hand))but kind of rough .....after years of sitting and lots of cleaning gunk the adjustment screws on my carb need some adjusting ....is it just an ear tuning thing or is it a all the way in and back out a certain amount...what is a good starting point??...I am hopping it will tune up without having to pull carb down just yet..
