Gas - Anyone running Zero Ethanol?
I run zero ethanol in my Yamaha outboards. At the end of the boating season, I had 5 gallons left. I drained the gas out of the cart and filled with the zero ethanol. My real intention is to get the best scenario for the carb not getting gunked up even though I use stabil. It did seem to run better, but that could be in my head. Only bad thing, zero ethanol is rarely available anywhere except the marinas around here.
Anyone try zero ethanol? |

Re: Gas - Anyone running Zero Ethanol?
Everything will run better on it.Ethanol reduces the Octane, absorbs water, and burns faster=lower mpg.We ran Go-Karts on Methanol(a purer form of Ethanol)It burns much faster than gas,you need 3x the amount,Plus you have to run really rich jetting to run Alcohol properly.A guy at work tried E-85 in his new F150,His mileage immediately dropped from 20 to 14,and it had no power vs Gasoline w/10%-Ethanol.My Boss ran some E-20 in his vehichles and they ran awful, especially the carburated ones,Fuel-Injection can compensate. This fuel they are selling us is watered down garbage. And if you don't run your tank down every time,it will keep increasing Ethanol and Water content at the bottom, and eventually run terrible or quit completely(Seen it numerous times)Pump out a car fuel tank that never gets run down, you get a Orange/Brown syrup-type liquid that won't burn(I tried igniting it,nothing happened!)!

Re: Gas - Anyone running Zero Ethanol?
Wish we could get gas with no ethanol! It play's havic on small engines and our golf cars. It attracts moisture and in the cold damp weather we have here in fall/winter and spring, it actually cowagulates the oil and partiallt or fully plugs the pulsar line that drives the fuel pump Then you take the carb off, remove the float bowel and it looks like grey jello, after about 15 seconds it turns to a tan powder. I'm tired of cleaning carbs and blowing out pulsar lines! They say the new "The Drive" fuel injected cars will not have a problem....we will see. If you can...buy straight gas, your car will love you for it!

Re: Gas - Anyone running Zero Ethanol?
Briggs actually wants additive in every tank of fuel, along with Premium-Grade Fuel. This stuff is bad news.I spent half of last summer cleaning carbs.on everything from trimmers to carts. The Upside is lots of profit to be made, with very little expense or labor involved!

Re: Gas - Anyone running Zero Ethanol?
husquvarna says E-10 fuel is only good for 45 days, the only thing i burn E10 is my truck, EVERYTHING else gets E-0,
weed eater, reaf blower, chainsaw, log splitter, NEW mower, golf cart, two generators, and three dirtbikes, i have NO time to dick around with gunked up carbs from E10 |

my boat sat for 3 or 4 months and ran like the gas was fine,,it smelled strong also..i do crank it every month for a few minutes..i guess my day is coming to clean the carb as it sits every yr for months at a time and always runs perfect as it did when new..oh wait,,i do use stabil so maybe thats why it does so good

As far as small 2 and 4 stroke engines are concerned. Try using Colemans or Ozarka Camp fuel. Mix it as you would gas. I've been running it for years with no problems and have even let it sit all winter and fires up no problem.

Re: Gas - Anyone running Zero Ethanol?
I don't know if you guys have general aviation airports near you, but that's all I'll use in my small engines! It is 100LL. It's basically what we had for a midgrade fuel before the feds said we had to put crap in our fuel! At present av gas is $4.76 a gallon at Flagler County Airport, Fla. I'd run it in my vehicles, but it's just out of my price range for that! The time and trouble it saves using it in the small engines more than pays for itself, though! One day maybe the feds will figure out that ethanol is for human consumption and gasoline is for engines!!!
