yamaha g1 lower end rebuild
so i inherited a 82 yamaha g1 (j17, lucky me) and already have the top end rebuilt. the cart i know took a lot of abuse from its previous owner. and i know i need to rebuild the lower half of the engine. so my question is does anyone make a kit for the lower half like the do for the top or do i have to buy everything separately?

Re: yamaha g1 lower end rebuild
I am currently doing mine as well. You will need a crank/rod combo, bearings and oil seals. I got the crank/rod for $160. Altogether around $200. Top end re-build will have to come apart to split the cases. Best idea is read the service manual and clean things well before you assemble.

Re: yamaha g1 lower end rebuild
Ferdabutt, I got the crank/rod combo from East Coast Custom Carts including both bearings for $176 plus a small ship chg which I thought was a great price. I already had the crank seals but Im sure you can get them there. I received them very quickly. If you have any other questions feel free to ask here or PM me.
