Is a rebuild kit necessary for carb clean?
Yamaha Yamahauler G11A
Can I take apart the carburetor to clean it an put it back together without a rebuild kit? Or should I just wait a few days and get the kit? |

Very rarley do you need parts to clean your carb. Probably only if the main jet is so plugged you cant clean it or if the air mixture screw point is damaged.

What Smallblock said, plus get a set of welding tip cleaners for the pesky
little jets and holes. |

Re: Is a rebuild kit necessary for carb clean?
Unless it is super bad, just get a can of carb clean and carefully put the tiny tube into the jets and blast them. Be very careful you don't get it in your face. Spray the bowl and wipe it out. Clean the rest, should be good. Most passages you can see the carb clean come out the other end. If really gunked up, then you want to use torch cleaners or wire/etc to ensure the jets are open.

I believe there are 2 gaskets, one on each side of the plastic manifold (spacer). it makes it nice to have new gaskets there, so you don't need to tighten the nuts and screws up so much on the plastic spacer. New gaskets compress and seal without so much pressure.
Same with exhaust gasket. |

Re: Is a rebuild kit necessary for carb clean?
Thanks all, after getting it out spray it all over with some gum cleaner and compressed air, i got the gaskets in the mail yesterday, back together today, and it runs now. Not perfect but enough that at least I can use it. once warm it no longer requires choke on to run.
The issue now is that (with the drive belt off) when i hit the gas it seems bog down. (dont know how to describe) could it be flooding when i apply full throttle? |
