Default another Fuel pump Issue

I got this cart not running and changed the fuel pump to a cheap plastic job from the lawn mower store and it worked fine. Just finished rebuilding the motor and put in a new stock pump. If I put compressed air in the fuel tank it will run but will start to get air in the line after a while with out pushing the fuel. I am thinking the suction side fuel line may be leaking at the connections or it could be the new fuel pump is bad? What do you think?

Try putting the plastic one back on, they work great, I've been running them for years.

Thanks all, I guess I will try the plastic pump first to see if that solves it since it worked fine before the rebuild. I did flush a bunch of junk out of the tank when I had it out and it is possible that the hose in the tank got plugged

Yeah I agree with the others, you need to take the tank out and clean it out really good with hot soapy water then swish some fuel in there after the wash. Then replace ALL the rubber/plastic lines.

Thanks Slo, I gave the tank a good cleaning when I had it out. I replaced all fuel and vacuum lines except the one in the tank so I will change that and the filter today. If that doesn't work I'll try the plastic pump

Update .... The stock wire clamp at the suction side of the pump was loose and so was the hose. I put a new hose clamp on and it's running. I do see air bubbles in the line to the carb but had black lines before so this could be normal. Thanks for the help

Today I unhooked the fuel line from the pump and extended it to a jug on the floor and blew a lot of air into the fuel tank with it basically syphoning down to the floor on the other end. After about a pint went thru I got a big surge of air and some dirt then the fuel stopped back flowing to the tank. Runs great now.
