1990 yamaha gas g2 problems
hey guys I got a 90 Yamaha gas g2 and when I got it the guy showed me a wire that had recently burned up it was the black wire coming out of the ignition coil he said it quit running after that........ all the diagrams I can see only have two wires coming out of ignition orange and red white any one no why mine has 3 and what there for? also when he put the jumpers on the starter generator to prove it rolled over I seen smoke from the neg cable at battery I could really use some help I know nothing about these got it at a descent price and would love to get it goin for my family thanks

another thing is it possible worse case scenario to rip old wiring harness out and re wire just bare essentials to make it run and drive around? and if so what exactly has to be wired in to accomplish this sorry im new to the cart world

That sounds like the ground wire that attached to the bolt on the coil. So there might be a short somewhere or you just need to ground the engine. You could run a temp wire from batt neg to the engine and see what happens.

is there a way i can strip it down to the bare minimal wires and if so what would have to be wired for the cart to still operate properly

Don't have an answer on that one. As far as I know you need just about every wire to run it.

My g2 pedal sensor wire was cut then I had to replace wire that Burns up

I don't know of any extra wire in there you can remove. Just find the short and it will be fine, check all connections and repair. These carts are getting on in years (20yr plus) and is common for wire connections to go bad. All grounds are wired, the frame is not ground, the engine is not on the frame. Check ground wires first.

thanks i tracked it down to a pile of poor connections repaired them and got it running ......i would like to put a diff style air filter on it to make more room in engine bay and better breathing the old one is filthy and i notice if i do a bunch of stop and go driving my battery goes dead on me to looking for answers lol nd still tracking down the little querks haha
