G9 backfire
Hello everyone. I am new to golf carts. I just purchased a G9. I tuned it up, cleaned it, changed the oil etc.
When I'm going down the road at part to full throttle, and I let off the gas, coast for 20-30 feet then step on the gas again it backfires. When running at any throttle position I smell raw gas. I would appreciate any help. I also need the front lower plastic panel. Does anyone know where I can get one? Thank you, Andy |

Re: G9 backfire
Welcome to BGW Andy!
Sounds like when you let off, the carb is not closing all the way, the butterfly needs to be closed all the way. Adjust the cable. |

Re: G9 backfire
I always set them to idle really slow, just faster than the gen turns it. This keeps people from running it on the starter and killing the battery, makes it start better/faster, and they never pop on slow down. These do have the idle mix screw some newer ones do not. You set the throttle cable under the floor panel, turn off key and lift the rubber, wiggle the panel out of the pedals. It should start without the carb moving, then open carb as you push pedal more. Some people like to have the idle off all the way, but I idle mine sometimes and like it to start fast. A carb will not flow fuel when all the way shut, but can leak air causing lean condition. Some carbs don't much and so nothing happens closed.
