Default 1998 yamaha g16 battery goes dead

hoping someone can help. after running my cart for about ten minutes battery goes dead. seems like something is draining the battery. can any one help pls.

Check for a parasitic draw when the cart is off. This is done with a volt meter.

Put the volt meter on 12v, loosen the negative battery cable. Put one lead on the battery neg. post and one on the terminal. Constant contact has to remain with both items, remove the terminal from the post while still in contact with both items. There should be no voltage at this point, if there is voltage you have to eliminate items ie. solenoids and relays.
Also check the battery for a shorted,flat cell. May have to take to service center or parts store for that.

You may also want to use a volt meter to see if it is charging when it is running. Should be about 14.5 to 15.5 volts I believe.

it seems to kill the battery when the key is left on. after the cart sits for awhile the battery picks up enough charge to start again, but if you leave it with the key on the battery is dead.

found problem, bad wire from generator. big thank you to all who gave me excellent solutions, hopefully i can be of help someday.
