Re: 1998 yamaha g16 battery goes dead
Check for a parasitic draw when the cart is off. This is done with a volt meter.
Put the volt meter on 12v, loosen the negative battery cable. Put one lead on the battery neg. post and one on the terminal. Constant contact has to remain with both items, remove the terminal from the post while still in contact with both items. There should be no voltage at this point, if there is voltage you have to eliminate items ie. solenoids and relays. Also check the battery for a shorted, flat cell. May have to take to service center or parts store for that. Hope this helps. Scott Ross |

You may also want to use a volt meter to see if it is charging when it is running. Should be about 14.5 to 15.5 volts I believe.

Re: 1998 yamaha g16 battery goes dead
it seems to kill the battery when the key is left on. after the cart sits for awhile the battery picks up enough charge to start again, but if you leave it with the key on the battery is dead.

Great news. Even better news it did not cost an arm and a leg. Also thanks for posting the resolution as it helps when folks look for same issue resolvement.
