Leveling out G22
I have a G22 with a 6" Jakes spindle lift kit installed. When I first got it there was a noticeable dip to the drivers side. Reading about the dip I figured it had to be worn shocks from only carrying a driver the entire life. I swapped out the shocks on the front with OEM and rear with Heavy Duty.
It still leans! The difference is about 1/2" lean to the drivers side. Not sure if this is related but when I turn hard to the left there is a grinding jumping feel to the tires. The same turn to the right yields a smooth turn, with no grinding feel. I can't find a rub spot on the body, so I am guessing it is all tire on pavement that I am feeling when turning. The toe of the tires doesn't look off, but maybe that is my cause? Are there any other adjustments I can make to not only level things out, but to decrease the issues when turning? |

Re: Leveling out G22
I don't think a picture will help but here is one I took tonight after trying to alter toe-in/out on the cart.

Re: Leveling out G22
First I would measure the cart. Go from the top of the axle to the bottom of the frame. This gives you the truest ride height. This will also tell you if the leaning is a suspension related problem or a body / frame issue. Does the G22 have leaf springs or coils?

Re: Leveling out G22
Last night I did some more adjustments but got nothing. I am down to thinking it is frame like you said. Here is a straight line picture taken on the front. I put a broom handle perpendicular to the frame and had it touching one wheel. There is a noticeable gap between the other wheel and broom handle (Picture). Measuring the distance betweenfront and back hubs for both sides however yields the same distance between the front and back wheels. How can that be?

Re: Leveling out G22
Likely is a twist in the frame. It's coils on all four corners right? Long shot but all tire pressures are equal?

So if it is a frame twist what options do I have? The only thing I can think of is getting spacers on the shocks to level it out. Some 1" spacers would do the trick to one side. Are there other options? Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it. |

Re: Leveling out G22
Well there are definitely options if your frame is twisted. The easiest would be spacers or shock extensions and install them as required to level the cart. The money is no object approach would be to take it to an alignment shop that specializes in frame straightening. If possible... They will basically chain the cart to the ground and take measurements until it's straight. They will then leave it like that for a day or two and take the chains off and see if it held the new position. I say if possible because I don't know if they do it for smaller vehicles like a golf cart. I have seen it done on heavy duty trucks (dump trucks, highway tractors etc).
Out of curiosity, are all 4 shocks the same on those carts? I have seen guys buy lowering kits for their hondas and install the springs on the wrong corners and drop one side 2" and the other side 2 3/4 inches as apposed to the front and rear drop. Is it possible you have two front shocks on the left side and two rear shocks on the right side? |

Re: Leveling out G22
The shocks on the rear are the same for both right and left, but the ones on the front are specific to a side. They are different than the rear shocks though so you can't confuse them.
I thought it was a shock issue originally, and I replaced all 4 of them recently. It sits the same as it did before though. I think I am going to try to use spacers to level it out. That seems like the most affordable option at this point. Thanks for the help. I will post up some pictures once I get it leveled. |

Spacers are the obvious choice! Good luck!
