Default G 1 will not start, died in yard

I have a G1 that my son was riding in the yard.

It died in the middle of the yard.

Checked the gas to make sure it was not empty.

Checked for spark, seemed to be OK Spark Plug was real dirty, need to get a new one.

Noticed that the spark plug boot was pretty worn out, might need to replace it.

Any ideas

Thanks

Check the 2 fuses on top of the right rear inner fender.

I checked both fuses and they are fine.

I poured a small amount of gas/oil mix in cylinder and it will run for a few moments.

Took off the carb and cleaned it real good.

Still does not run.

Checked fuel filter and bypassed it to see if it was plugged, still no luck

Any other thoughts or ideas?

Thanks

Will it fire at all with the choke pulled out all the way?

So, the starter/generator is turning over the engine, correct? If so, lets think... fuel, spark, compression. Sounds like you have spark and maybe fuel. I would do a compression check, next.
Also, you could pull the fuel line off the carb, and see if it squirts fuel , while the starter is tuning the engine over. The fuel pump runs off a vacume/pressure pulse from the crank case. On my G1, the hose from the crankcase to the fuel pump has come loose (off) before, and it took a Really long time for it to fire, casue it has to rely on pressure coming from the carb. Also, on mine, there is a little rubber plug right next to where the hose from the fuel pump connects to the engine. Mine had dry rotted, and the cart was making a new/funny noise. It started a lot quick/easier , once I replaced that vacume cap. Does it sound the same as before, when it's trying to fire?

good luck,
gator

Ok

Just checked the fuel lines real good and they are all clear.

Carb cleaned. Pulled the fuel lines off the carb and turned over engine and no fuel goes to carb.

A question on the fuel pump. The vac line from engine appears to be pumping a small amount of air when the engine is turned over. Is this normal? How does the pump work?

Can the pump be rebuilt or does it need to be replaced? Do thye go bad?

Thanks

The fuel pump work by vacuum of the engine. There is a diaphram assembly inside the pump itself. First off make sure the fuel inlet valve moves freely. Make sure you do not bend the tab on the float or your carb will not work properly. Your question about the fuel pump rebuild, you may be able to get a rebuild kit from Mikuni at their website. The cost of a fuel pump from a dealer is very expensive, unless you get an after market that has roughly the same output as a stock pump, those go for about 15 bucks. The rebuild will cost about the same. Personally if you can't go with a rebuild kit or you can't find one get the rectangle after market.
