Cleaning g9 rear cowl
I'm sure everybody has seen this kind of buildup of dust, dirt, grease etc. on the underside of a cart! I'm wondering how to best clean the cowl or is there a source to buy the foamy rubber stuff from and just use the old rubber for templates to cut out some new clean rubber foam?
Thanks for any responses JP |

Re: Cleaning g9 rear cowl
The foam stuff is for sound deadening. I pulled mine off and never replaced it, didn't notice much difference.

Re: Cleaning g9 rear cowl
I'm thinking about doing that but, there's one piece that covers the muffler. Foam on one side (the glue side) and looks like heat reflecting aluminum on the side above the muffler.

I'd do like Ron said, take it off and ride on. That's what I'm gonna do to mine.

Re: Cleaning g9 rear cowl
I'm not so sure I'd replace the reflective stuff with carpet padding, things can get a little warm under the seat. I would rather run with nothing under there than carpet pad. Just my .02 cents.

Re: Cleaning g9 rear cowl
Carpet padding is very flammable, and doesn't dry when wet.I'd use something else.

Re: Cleaning g9 rear cowl
thank you guys for the comments. This is what I ended up with.
the bag well is covered with the rebond padding which will be covered with the aluminum reflective sheet. the area over the muffler has 2 sheets of aluminum over it. I did a little research, the recycled urethane which is what the rebond is made of has a melt point of 420 degrees, the polypropylene body of the golf cart has a melt point around 340 degrees. The flash point of the rebond and the old rubber stuff I tore out is about the same when I exposed the two to open flame. If needed I'll get a piece of Heat Shield Armor to lay over the muffler. JP |
