buttons on secondary clutch
So my yami isnt moving up hills, i have lubricated everything and so on and so on but it will not move up a hill or even a slight hill!!! But in reverse when it gets going that thing has alot of power and will go right up a hill and fast! I looked at the buttons on my secondary clutch and they are somewhat worn, and causing indentations on my triangle things, like groves and you can tell where they are rubbing alot! Could this be the problem of why my g1 will no go anywhere basically, it runs fine on smooth land also!

Re: buttons on secondary clutch
Buttons = ramp shoes
Triangle things = helix If the helix is showing a lot of wear you may need to replace it or try to re-surface it. The ramp shoes will need to be replaced. Check with our site sponsors, they can help you with the parts. Sponsors >> http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/site-....php?styleid=3 |

Re: buttons on secondary clutch
If they're causing indentations on your helix the buttons are more than somewhat worn and they really need to be changed NOW.

Re: buttons on secondary clutch
Some one told me that the G8 originally came with grooves in the helix. is that correct? Mine definitely has them. I have a new one to install, but was just curious.

Re: buttons on secondary clutch
im thinking im going to put an 1/4 inch shim on both front and back clutches, is this a good idea for more power and torque?

Once you have a new belt on the machine you can shin between the steel wear plate and the moving sheave in the primary to bring the sheave in close to the belt. This worked wonders for mine as far as pulling power. Here is an image of the spacer I installed, And the clearance to the belt now, |

What's the part number or belt size to purchase a good belt?

Re: buttons on secondary clutch
It is 38mm ID, so call that 1.5" and about 2.75 OD. It sits on a step that originally located the steel plate. My spacer is .160 thick for a 1.25" belt. I expect you will need to be thicker for the original 1 3/16 belt unless you install a wider one. The wear in the sheaves and other factors changes things as well.
