Contemplating gas yammy purchase

I saw a '94 gas Yammy for sale locally, and was hopeful that some of y'all could answer a question or two.

Being as it is some 14 years old would it be as reliable as a 20xx model cart of any make? Hopefully the pic will post. It has a 4" lift, off-road tires, and a basket-rack on the back.

I've never had a cart (gas or electric), so I may be asking dumb questions...but that's how ya learn. Are these old gas carts hard to work on? Do they require a lot of maint? The asking price of this unit is comprable with local late model "stock" carts.

OH! I am looking for a cart for puttering around on my property, lite hauling and such. Terrain is kindof hilly.

IMO the G2/G9 were some of the best cart built. Easy to work on and very tough little machines.

I went and looked at it and was impressed enough to bring it home.
So......I guess I am now a die-hard Yammy Gas Cart Fan. :D

I was really torn between getting a gas or an electric unit.
I think I will like this lil rascal.

Project G2

You will love it. I have an ATV and have had both Electric and Gas carts. I recently purchased an 86 model G2. It had sat for quite some time. Working out the bugs has been a challenge. They are fairly easy to work on. My father-in-law also has a G2. It was bought used about 15 years ago. Use it around the property. We have never done anything but drive it. You can fill one up with gas and ride for a very long time. (months not hours)! Good luck with your Yami!!

Congrats and welcome to the site. Looks like a real nice little cart you found there.

As for ease of working on these ( I have a G2 as well) you are gonna LOVE it.
There is alot of info on them and they are pretty easy to play with. Mine's in pretty rough shape but between the members here and some of the sponsors, I've been able to find almost everything I need to make it new again.

We took it out cruising around our property this weekend. Very cool. I think it has as much power as my four-wheeler....and 99% quieter. I am still suprised at how quiet it is. WHY can't the four-wheeler manfs. make a decent muffler????

Yeppers Dave, you are correct on the spellage of this lil burg.
Yamaha is one of, if not, the biggest employer in this town…..heck maybe even the county.

They build the golf carts, the “jet skis”, and the four-wheelers here.
Lil factoid…all of the Yammy jet skis in the world are built at this plant.

I saw a semi-truck load of the golf carts parked in the Wal-Mart parking lot just the other day.

The gent I bought the cart from (waaaay on the north side of Atlanta) said it had been moded when he got it, and all that he’d done was to put the headlights on. Said he’d had it about three years and used it tooling around his farm. The “works” under the seat don’t look like they’ve been monkeyed with. If anything’s been done under there, it was a clean job.

The rear basket (bed) is rather heavy duty, and looks very well built….but I haven’t seen any like it on the Accy websites. I’ll post a pic of it when I get a chance.

One cool thing that whoever built it did (I don’t’ think it is stock) is they put a steel plate under the swing arm to protect the differential.

Things I already have planed for this lil rascal are heavy-duty rear springs, and a back-up light. I have a pretty good idea in my head on how to connect a light so that it will turn on when the cart is placed in reverse.

I take it the engines for the G9 don’t have an oil filter. I downloaded the user’s guide and didn’t find any mention of one. I don’t suppose there’s any way to rig one? May just have to resort to the old magnetic drain plug technique….If I can find one that will fit.
