Yami Won't Take Off Right Away-Elec.?
Since everybody here seems to have had some type of electrical problem I thought I'd throw another one in for discussion. 1994 G9 press on the accelerator, the starter/generator turns over but, there's no spark! After 20-30 seconds I'll try again, after about 3 to 4 attempts the engine fires up and runs fine. I'll go through this sequence a couple times and the problem goes away. Installed a new coil, voltage regulator, plug & plug wire and a new start stop switch. The battery is putting out 13.2 volts when fully charged. After I install new weights in the clutch I'm going back to check wiring but, it seems like there's something very specific that I'm overlooking so, anybody with some ideas chime in, I'm to the point of taking sleeping pills to quite thinking about this in bed.
Thanks JP |

TCI. There is no way of testing the TCI. So after testing all other components, if you still have a problem with spark, its usually the TCI.
Could be a ground connection. Could be a broken wire. |

Thanks Mike
Don't know about a TCI my G9 has an igniter. I've checked some of the wiring but, not all yet. Just can't get it through my head why the spark goes away then comes back and cart runs fine until I put it away for awhile! As far as the electric system is concerned, I've replaced everything BUT the igniter. JP |

Re: Yami Won't Take Off Right Away-Elec.?
I'm guessing a bad connection/ground. These carts are known for bad connections, especially since they are so old. I would inspect every wire carefully, trace them from point to point and look for nicks, kinks, frays, loose connections, corrosion, and replace/repair as needed.
It could be the cdi/ignition box, but they are expensive. If you have a line on a cheap spare, or have a buddy with the same cart, try it. You never know. |

Re: Yami Won't Take Off Right Away-Elec.?
Do you think a loose ground or frayed wire could cause the hard to spark issue at start up and then run fine the rest of the day? I know a new igniter is a little over a hundred bill! I can see the divorce lawyer sending me a letter when my wife looks at the checkbook so, I'll finish checking the wiring first!
Thanks JP |
