Default Need a 1995 Yamaha G14A Engine

Hello all, I just purchased my very first golf cart yesterday, it is a 1995 Yamaha G14A. I am new to the whole golf cart world and to this site. My problem is the cart is in great shape all the way around with the exception of the engine. It has a huge hole in the top of it where the balancing shaft and gears blew out of it. I only have $200 in the cart, so even with a dead motor I still think I did alright. My question is does anyone know where I can find or does anyone have a used engine for sale. I don't care if it runs or not as long as it can be rebuilt and doesn't have a large hole in it. Thanks for your time, and my wife and I can't wait to start carting. Eric

Is that the same motor as the G2 and G9?

I really don't know sir, it would be great if it did have other options because I can't find much on the G14A. But like I said I'm new to all of this as this is my first cart. I have seen where accessories will fit from the G14 up to the G22 (I believe that's what it is) but I'm not sure if any other models will bolt up and operate in the G14 as far as engines.

My brother just told me that the G14 is different than the G2/G9. Have you considered going with a big block?

No I've seen a few people mention those but I don't really know what they are or what that means. Is that something that is made by Yamaha, or is it like a conversion engine made by someone else?

No, it usually means transplanting a V-twin Briggs, Honda, or similar engine into the cart. You can find a used V-twin out of a garden tractor pretty cheap. Much more power than stock.

The bigblock kit is definitly bada$$, and real expensive, and requires at least 3" lift kit to fit. The difference in the G2-G9 motor and the G14 motor is displacement, g2-g9 = 285cc, g14 = 300cc. Externally they are the same, and would interchange.

If you buy the big block kit, yes, it is expensive, but it drops right in. I bought a used 16hp Briggs V-twin for $350 and made my own setup. If you have the ability to do your own fab work, you can do it for alot less than the kit. The problem is that once you have a big block, you'll want more power. I have about $1000 just into my motor now. I'm considering a supercharger, and that will add at least another $500 before it's done.

BTW, if you want a G2/G9 285cc motor, I can get you one. It is slightly modded with a 30mm carb, rev kit, and a few other items for durability.

eric, where are you located?
This motor belongs to my brother. It will outrun any stock cart motor. It also has a higher-lift cam. It includes the G9 ignitor which has no rev limiter.
