G2 diff rebuild
Looking for a site sponsor that carries a rebuild kit for the G2/G9 diffs. Gaskets, seals and bearings. I'll have a lot of horsepower on this cart so I need the rear end solid. TIA!

Re: G2 diff rebuild
Dont know about a rebuild kit. Standard gear oil is what you should use (80-90). In my 7yrs at a yamaha dealership, never had to rebuild one, or even open one up. Their reliability in the golfcart land is legendary in my opinion. Better than the dana axle, better than the team axle. Even yamaha revived the old yamaha built axle for their utility workhorses, the "adventurer". I have read about someone breaking one by jumping it at full throttle, and landing at full throttle, suddenly regaining traction. This was not a yamaha 1cyl engine in there.

Re: G2 diff rebuild
It will be powder coated so I figure I would replace bearings while it was open...

I put gears and some bearings in a CC rear and it took standard bearings, just got them at a bearing place. Not sure it would help you do do anything to it if it is in good working condition. Usually damage is either lack of lubricant or massive drivetrain shock such as a MC engine clutchining into it. Shock load causes the gears to break and there is nothing you can replace that will keep that from happening. The gears are like 1" wide in the CC, they are huge. Use a CVT on it and should have no issues. |

Re: G2 diff rebuild
Thanks show but, I'll be running close to 55hp and 60 mph. Turning 27" tires... I guess I'll upgrade my axles add new lube and give it a try!

Re: G2 diff rebuild
You can try to look up Alpha carts and his cart, was a built B&S 35hp. Did awesome wheelies, had a wheelie bar on it. Don't know what trans he ran. But do know people run 1000cc rice rockets into them in the dunes and long as they don't clutch them they run fine. With a RR motor the powerband is so wide they rarely have to shift anyway.
