g2 runs like crap after tune up

hey guys just looking for some info from fellow members im kinda stumped. I gave my g2 a tune up new air filter and spark plug and sealed the airbox after wards with foil tape it was missing straps and had hole in bottom of box before tune up.. but ran great. now after sealing the box tight and new plug its running like crap feels like its missing and doesn't have any speed or power to it, was puffing black smoke a little bit and plug was black like too much fuel but I don't understand it all I did was air filter, spark plug, and taped the box up I untapped the box a little bit along the seal and its running a little better but still doesn't get to top rpm like it did before I messed with it

any help would be great I want my rpms and power back and was just trying to help the ole girl breath better old filter was covered in oil

Someone probably played with the jetting to make it run right with the air leaks. Not the normal procedure but you might have to open the air leaks back up.

I was gonna say more air needs more fuel.. Now that you have less air due to covering the holes it's still pumping the same amount of gas this flooding the plug and running crappy.

where exactly is the jet located at in carb easy access or no? and that's kinda what I was thinking I was just trying to do the proper thing

but what previous owner did is outta my hands

Try removing all the tape you put on the airbox and give it a test run.

Not positive about the jets on a g2 but the jets on the later models have a jet on the outside and 2 jets inside the bowl on the bottom.

trying to find what goes to what I have a screw straight in top of carb and one on a angle that I think is suppose to have a spring on but is held still with a nut

I think I figured it out guys I un taped everything I sealed up and threw another plug in it seems to be running ok now im gonna take it for a few trips around town then read the plug

Did you check the plug gap when you put the new plug in? or did you take it out of the box and put it in the motor?
