83 G1 brake light switch install help
Almost have new G1 (first cart for father/son project) trail ready, but I must have a working brake light for trail use in Arizona. Any help in part selection/installation steps/tricks, to install a brake light would be greatly appreciated. Haven't checked yet, but imagine I can feed brake light power to switch from a wire hot only when ignition is on.
-Thanks all. |

Re: 83 G1 brake light switch install help
RJ, there is a "how to" in the "sticky" section, up top, "Wiring brake lights" or something like that.
Also in my car, I used LED's in the tail lights, so there is very little current draw. So the only draw on the generator, is when I use the KC lights on the front. |

Thanks for the pic....that with the prior "sticky note" explanation help a lot. LED lights all around work well. Waiting for another day off to get the brake light switch added to the mix. Thanks again.

Re: 83 G1 brake light switch install help
Let you guys in on a little secret! I think I lied in that sticky. I think I spliced into the hot wire on the pedal switch, for the power to the brake switch.
But using LED's, there was very little current draw, so no issue with damaging the small gage wire when using both throttle and brakes at the same time!! |

Re: 83 G1 brake light switch install help
I used a universal plunger switch on the small tab on the pedal (sorry, no pics).
I fashioned a bracket that attaches with the spring bolt. Power is a hot line run from battery thru a fuse panel. I used a 3A fuse for brakes and fuel gauge sending unit. |

What LED taillight/brake lights are you using? I am looking at the Strech MS-5-05LED but I don't know if they are configured to be both brake and tail lights.
