Default Need honest opinion.. Carb vs efi g29 drive

Had a friend in my hunting club offer me a generous amount of cash for my 09 g29 so needless to say its sold. Went to my local yamaha cart dealer to look at some new carts. They have a awesome looking 2013 carbed lime green metallic custom ordered paint scheme from the factory in plain jane form. No lights no windshield just basic. Its the only 2013 cart remaining. He has a but load of 2014 carts that are the fuel injected model that are also the ptv models with horn, lights, turn signals etc. It also has a tinted windshield and the plastic chrome looking wheel covers. The price difference between the 2 carts is a few dollars shy of 600$. I drove both and the carb model actually starts faster than the efi but is slightly jerkier when the engine was cold while choking it. The efi you just press the pedal and about 2 seconds later turns over and starts very smooth. I didnt notice as much exhaust fumes while driving the efi model.

Im kinda leaning towards the 2014 with efi and all the extras it has over the 2013 carb model but i sure did like the green paint on the 2013 though. He said that a regular 2013 white if he still had in stock is 300$ cheaper than the green so roughly 900$ less than a 2014 efi. The custom green was a 300$ extra option.

What would you guys do on this situation?? The carb would be easier to troubleshoot down the road but both have full 4 year warranties. Would you guys justify paying the 600$ for the newer, more features, and more technology??

That was a nice looking ride. The efi is new in 2014 for Yamaha in golf carts. They put efi in all they other stuff. I would go for it. But the green 2013 must look good too.

The only thing about the efi im wandering if leaving the key switched on will kill the battery. Since the efi has an electric fuel pump etc. i like to listen to the radio alot while off the cart working. Also i did notice that on these new 2013 and up carts the clutches are totally different than the previous.

That's a nice cart. Only thing about efi if they f up they may cost more to fix. I would get the green see if they can take more money off seeing it a 2013 or get some free stuff for it. May a ask what's a new one go for.

The green is 5000 and the 14 fi is 5600

They just sold out of the left over 2013 common color fleet carts which were 4700

That my thought as well about yhe fi being costly to repair. Hopeing smallblock and some of the other yamaha mechanics will chime in since the fi has been available since middle of 2012 if they have seen issues with it or not. I really dont plan on keeping the cart linger than the 4 year warranty anyways. Theres always something bigger and better that comes along in the future.

One thing I see with golf carts is they made very well because they must get the **** beat out of them on golf c. . You will be 1st one to use it. The one that i got was new never seen a golf c. I'm 2nd person. Are you going to keep it stock.

Thats right the 09 i had was used up north and from the looks of it it still had the original belt and the clutch sheeves were pretty grooved. The body was in excellent shape with very few scratches. My buddy offered me 4600$ cash which was 800$ more than i paid for the cart 8 months ago. He said that 4600$ was a fair price for what my cart featured so he insisted i take the cash.he came up with the figure so dont get the impression that i took him for a ride on the price. Now that im getting a new cart i will know how it was maintained and the treatment it recieved. Ill have to come out of pocket for some new wheels and possibly a lift kit. I will go with a 3" lift this time. The 6" with the 23" tires was a bit too high for may grandparents and family to get in and out. I have seen some very cheap prices on golf cart wheels and tires on craigs list lately. This time ill have a bare bone cart that i can customize it the way i want. The first mod will definatey be a good stereo. Im always in the yard and around the property working and gotta have the tunes pumping out whether it be college football games, nascar race or whatever i can play through pandora or tune in radio from my iphone.

The dealer has some adventurer 2+2 carts that come from yamaha with a 3" lift installed and some 20" offroad tires that look sweet but are very pricey 7600$. Thats most likley the route ill take. A mild lift and some smaller diameter tires than what i had before.
