Default make g16 idle

I flipped the pedal kill switch on my g16 and now it starts with the key and shuts off with the key, is there any harm to running cart like this?, I usually only run around camp and back , will not be running for long periods of time

I have read that it is not a good idea with a splash lubed engine!

Why do you want this function? Chris

If it's doing what I think it's doing, the clutch is locked up and it's turning on the starter. Do you have to hold the break on to keep it stopped? None of this is healthy for the cart.

i have the idle turned down and the belt does not move until i give it gas, i really want this function because camp is mostly hills so lots of down hills, it always shuts off and drags going down hill then jumps when giving it gas so trying to smooth out ride

The motor is not running. It's turn over on the starter.

Good luck

Just thinking, need to put it all back to stock. Then use throttle and brake going down hill to take advantage of its "grade braking" ability. If you keep the motor engaged, it will hold you back.

Most carts with jerking issues have a badly adjusted throttle cable. The starter should turn over before the carb opens at all, you should have about 1" travel at top of pedal before the carb opens (from where the starter kicks in). In my opinion it is better to set the engine to idle slowly because I have had people drive around on the starter and kill the battery, and they seem to start faster that way. Only issue is some new carbs don't have an idle mix on them and it is helpful to get it to idle right. It needs to idle just faster than the starter, which is very slow for a small single. But G2/9 will do it nicely. And that way the cart will not take off unless you are on a downhill, it is slower then the clutch pulls in at.

I discovered by trial and error that what Mike said is very true. It takes a little getting used to (pressing the gas to slow down !), but it works. If you add just a little throttle while going down hill, the engine speed keeps the primary clutch engaged with the secondary clutch and walla - engine braking. RAY

G16 primary clutches DO NOT have a spring in them. If you try to get them to idle they will creep. If you lock the parking brake you will flat spot your belt and cause damage to your clutch.
If you turn the idle down, you will likely be running on the starter/generator like Mike said. Not the motor.
