Default Choke? Hole?

What is this hole and do I need to do anything about it? There appears to be oil leaking out of it or around it.

Also my choke cable is routed to under the drivers seat with a push pull switch. The switch does not do anything, I cannot pull it and it doesn't effect the choke. Do I need to worry about this?

If you experts can look at the pics and let me know anything that looks out of place. As you can tell I am a newbie. Anyone out there in the St. Louis area?

The hole i assume is the rear end fill hole for when you add the drive fluid for the rear end. Just a threaded plug is what should be in the hole. I wouldnt run with out the plug because debris and can get inside and wreak havoc on the internal gears.

Looks like the vent line on my G2 it should have a black 90 degree plug if so similar to PVC valve . Let's pressure out but has a check to not let things come in .

That is a "vent tube" and "gear lube filler hole" part#jn3-47559-00-00. (all the same from 1979 to 1994,if you want to find a good used one) and it should be there to stop things getting like mentioned. Original G1-a's had the choke cable mounted on the instimment panel next to the key switch, your's has been modified, Yamaha no longer sell's the choke cable, you'll have to go aftermarket for that, if you want it stock.

STL, just a little at a time, and keep reading this site!! You'll get it! That car could be close to 30 yrs. old!! Its a survivor!! But get that breather tube in so nothing else gets in there!

Here is the breather tube you need. This picture can be enlarged in the The G8 Club, on page 404!
