starter stays running
Bought a yamaha cart that has seen some water. when i try to start it the starter engages and stays running when i lift off the pedal. if i disconect the brown wire from the solid state voltage regulator it will operate properly, im suspecting a bad regulator, I know its not the switch at the gas pedal, i disconnected the switch and tried starting by bypassing it and same thing happened, just want to be sure before i buy a 90$ reg.

You could very well be right. But are you convinced that the solenoid is working correctly? They are cheaper so...

well i bought 4 carts and took a solenoid from a running one and there was no improvment.

So, if parts change out on the other carts you have, try switching a VG.

i would but the one im having trouble with has the aluminum solid state vg with a 4 connector plug, the other ones have the 3 post with tin cover.
