Father In Laws G1 rebuild going well
Hey guys, the rebuild is going well. The body is in the paint shop and the rest of the upper engine parts are in shipment. I'm gonna bend some new tube bumpers and lay some aluminum diamond plate over the dash area. We were inspecting the suspension for a lift kit and noticed that one of the front shocks is broke. Does anyone know of an ATV shock that would bolt in without throwing the camber off? A bit of stiffness couldn't hurt.

Let's see some pics!!
You will have to match up the shocks for the right length. I don't know of any but I'm sure they are out there. Someone will know. |

Re: Father In Laws G1 rebuild going well
Here is the factory shock for a G1.
http://www.****************.com/prod...287&cat=144248 When I got my cart someone had put a set of modified shocks from a G2 or somethin on it. It rode like a steel wheeled wagon (thats worse than a log truck if you get my drift). G1 front shocks are longer and have more play than any other yamaha front shock. I put a set of these on it and it rides like a cadillac compared to what it did before. Unfortunitely I had the old shocks on it when I installed my lift and my camber is way off now and needs adjusted, but thats gonna make my cart sit down in the front worse than it is already. Guess I'm gonna have to go with some taller front tires to level it out. |

Re: Father In Laws G1 rebuild going well
The top shock mounts have 3 adjustments for camber, of course I've got it jacked all the way up to get the extra ride height. It rides and handles great, it just looks kinda goofy. It probably wouldn't take a half hour to readjust. I just havn't took the time to do it.

Re: Father In Laws G1 rebuild going well
Hey Redneck Rhino,
what kind of seats did you put on that G1? Early last summer I put on some cheap Walmart boat seats, less than $ 25 per and you get what you pay for. The backs of both them have broken they must have a real thin piece of cardboard as support. yours look more like a tractor type seat? I need to rebuild a G9 motor then i am looking at doing some fun stuff to the G1. you said you were going to install some new bumpers, after you bend the pipes please post some pics, i need to do the same thing. the golf cart took a beating this summer by the kids and needs a lot of TLC! Thats what it is all about though, I love seeing my kids covered with dirt and smiles on their faces, I can always fix a few dents |

Re: Father In Laws G1 rebuild going well
The engine is complete and we started it up. Amazing, I can't turn the engine over with one finger anymore? Before the build it only had 60 psi of compression. Got the front bumper finished, painted it gloss black. The rear bumper is in the works as of today. The body is back from paint, its a medium blue/ silver with silver pin stripes, looks good. Now I just need some diamond plate for the "rocker panels" and the dash area. I'll put some pics up next week. We're gonna chip in for a lift kit and a set of tires for him too. Thats why I asked if there are some ATV shocks that would work well with a 4 inch lift kit. I think Everything Carts had a lift kit and tires for about $450.00
