Default g1 cdi issues

hi everybody I just installed a chinese cdi on my 1984 g1. i installed the diodes but i get no spark unless i remove the diodes and connect only one wire at a time. ie white with green stripe for foward or white with red stripe for reverse. i even installed a new key switch to elimanate any problems in that area.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

i have read through the post on cheap cdi that is were i got the info from. the problem im haveing is when i hook my pulser wires to the diodes then to cdi i get no spark. if i connect one pulser wire to cdi i get spark. i tried several diodes but still no spark. im thinking about installing a single pole double throw toggle switch so i can have forward and reverse. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are the diodes connected in the right direction? They allow current one way,but not the other. It could be that simple.Hope this helps.

hello pachanga90 I have tried several diodes with the stripe towards the cdi wire.still no spark if i connect my red/white wire to the cdi by itself i get spark or green/white to cdi by itself i get spark. I tested the diodes with test light I have pulse on both sides of the diode but it will not spark with the diode connected. the cart is in real good shape runs strong dont want to give up on it now. I have been looking for ideas on lift kit for it. Ive read on here that you fabricate them but not able to find any pictures of them. Im really interested in seeing youre lift kits. thanks patrick

There are pics under "Pachanga-Lift",and "The Wifes' Toy is Ready" Threads.I'm going to post some updated pics as soon as I can figure out how from my phone(still learning "Smart-Phones").Diodes are a "one-way check-valve"Current only flows in one direction thru them. The value/rating of the diode matters too(I'm not the best on electronics, but I've dealt with it enough to understand the basics).

On a stock setup, the W/R wire from the pulsar gets connected to ground when the key is in the forward position. The W/G wire from the pulsar gets connected to ground when the key is in the reverse position. I would leave the diodes connected for reverse protection, and try jumpering the W/R wire to ground in the forward position and see if it fires. If that works, try the same with the W/G in the reverse direction. On a stock setup, the jumper to ground is done through the keyswitch. If you look on your keyswitch wiring, you will probably find that these two wires don't connect to anything. They are probably connected at the switch, but nothing on the other end.
