Unhappy no go in reverse

Yes, I am new to the golf cart scene and this site however thus far have found a lot of valuable information contained within. I do though have a problem that I cannot seem to find any info on, or at least a problem that matches mine. I recently acquired a G1 gas, The motor was completely rebuilt both top and bottom. (It had no compression and the drive bearings were shot). It now has great compression and runs like a scalded dog in forward. Fires right up and goes. In reverse though it doesn't want to fire. The back up buzzer works and starter motor spins and the motor turns over every once and a while but it doesn't fire. I replaced the f/r switch along with the micro-switch at the pedal. The in-line fuses going to the solenoids are good. My question is.... if it were the solenoid would the starter still turn? I am wondering if there is a sensor in the motor that has to read something in order to call for fire, like a ref or speed sensor on a car??? If so, where's it at and how do you set it??

Any information or leads would be great, also where can one pick up a "service" manual for one of these cheap.

Thanx in advance

Here are my findings of the tests, it appears as though the pulser coil is acting up but only in reverse???? All measurements made in Vac.

Orange wire voltage out of CDI Box is 13 Volts Reverse
17 Volts Fwd

Brown Wire, 34 Volts Reverse
46 Volts Fwd

White/Green Wire, 4.4 Volts Fwd
0 Volts Reverse

White/Red Wire, 0.5 Volts Fwd
0.5 Volts Reverse

Between White/Green & White/Red wires 4 VoltsFwd
0 Volts Reverse

Resistance between White/Green & White/Red and ground is negative

Here are the symptoms what is the diagnosis?

Sounds like one of the solenoids is bad.

thanx for responding, would the solenoid cause the white and red wire to the CDI to have no voltage yet everything else check good?

I'm not as familiar with the 2 strokes like I am with the 4's, so hopefully one of the other guys will chime in and post. I do know that the problem you are discribing is usually diagnosed as a solenoid or sometimes the ignition switch. I believe you have 3 solenoids on the back and almost positive that they can be swapped around to determine which one is bad. Don't hold me to that, but I'm almost positive this is true. So, if the bad one is swapped with a good one, you will more than likely have reverse and no forward. Again, I'm not positive on this, so lets wait and see if the G1 guru's will post here or at least agree or disagree with what I've posted. We'll get you fixed up.

Yes welcome Aces Hi!
The solenoids will not prevent spark, these are for starter/generator operation only.

Try unplugging the white/red plug at the CDI unit and measure resistance from the w/r plug of the harness side(not CDI side)to ground.
It should be open in forward and zero OHMS in reverse. Let's go from there!
