Default My Official G22A Build - nickname TBD

This thread will be my official thread listing progress on my recently aquired 2005 Yamaha G22A. History of the cart is I got it for free from a fellow gardener that knew that I was looking for a gas cart. He had this cart and wasn't sure if he wanted to fix it or get rid of it. He had to many other projects going on and this cart was just sitting at the back of his property. I went look at it and when he said FREE, I said "I'll take it".

After getting it home on 3/22/14, I started looking in and around it to see what I would need to change and what looked like was missing. All in total, 14 parts were on my list of what was either missing or needed to be changed (fellow members helped me identify missing parts). From my previous thread Dave (smallblock450sl) private messaged me and mentioned he may have some parts I could use. In the end I'm getting 90% of what I needed to atleast get the cart rolling and running from Dave. With my two boxes of parts, I'm hoping they deliver before this weekend and I can actually try to start the engine this weekend.

The cart already has a Jake's 6" lift, so "plans" are more to get it running and then go from there. Really not much to do being it is already lifted. No real plans to make it a show stopper as I want functionality more than looks.

Stay tuned!

I have been leaning towards "Project Cajun Concierge", but trying to come up with something Spanish.

Anybody want to put out ideas of things to do once I know its running? What is the amperage output of the starter/generator?

It's not much. About 15 amps. Good enough to keep the battery charged.

I always test for the charging rate of 14.5 to 15.5, just like a car.

I have tested them to 40 amps for very short bursts. You really need to go over all the "fuzzy" aluminum with a wire brush, that stuff looks like it was submerged. Whats the oil look like? Yep, when you get it running, grease the clutches (1 pump each), take the cover off the front and spin the rollers looking for flat spots. Might wanna get the spacer and umax spring on the rear clutch.

Oil looks good. No water, not milky, and not solid black.

Asked, because was wondering if I could use things like a 12v sprayer or a 12v spreader on the cart.

I read alot about the biggest downside to a gasser is that the engine shuts off when stopped. So if I'm starting and stopping spot spraying a pasture, will that cause any problems? Is there a way to allow the engine to idle? How much time before the cart shuts off from the time the gas pedal is released. I assume the kill relay is a timed relay that prevents this, because you don't want the engine killing if your foot slips off the gas pedal.
