G9 torque spring problems.
I purchased a Torque spring from Carts parts plus for my 91 G9. Installed it and now having belt problems. I broke one belt and just put another on. I drove the cart about 300 yards on flat ground. The belt got very hot and so did the outer sheave on the rear clutch. the cart runs fine other than the first belt breaking and now my new belt getting hot. Should it be getting hot that quick? What did I do wrong? Im ready to just put the stock spring back in.

Re: G9 torque spring problems.
Your rear clutch system is locking up. Any problems during installation? Check to make sure the inner sheave is not locked on the drive shaft. It has an inner bushing that has to be greased every so often (very minimal). Also make sure the outer sheave was installed correctly on to the locking key on the shaft and not spinning freely. More than likely it is the inner sheave locked on the shaft and not moving back and forth like it should.

Re: G9 torque spring problems.
I found the problem I think. The spring seems to be to small in diameter. It will not seat in the cups it sits in. I put my original spring back in and everything works fine. Anybody ever have this problem? Was I maybe sent the wrong spring?

I've never ran into this. If you can get a pic, I would like to see it.

Re: G9 torque spring problems.
I did not take any, and I have already put it back together with the old spring. The place im talking about though is where the ends of the springs seat in the aluminum cups. It appears the spring is too small in diameter. I tried to twist it in even and that will not work. The spring needs to be about 1/8" bigger in diameter.

Re: G9 torque spring problems.
I understand what you are saying. I've never ran into this problem though. All of my torque springs I have installed have been white. They are a tight fit sometimes but never seen one where it was just small in diameter. You may have accidentally been sent the wrong spring. Call or email CPP about it if that is where you got it. If there is a problem, they will take care of it.
