Default Yamaha G1 complete motor with generator/starter

What is a G1 complete motor with generator/starter worth? I got in in on trade. It looks really good.. has the clutch with it. motor turns over very easily by hand. Guy took it out of his g1 and put a snowmobile motor in it.

Default Re: Yamaha G1 complete motor with generator/starter

thats a tough question. if you just start looking at parts to rebuild one ie crankshaft assembly $ 300 plus..... piston $40 something, rings, etc. a guy can dump 4-500 in a total rebuild pretty quick . around my area i see a fair amount of G-1 s for sale usually around $ 1,000 in decent shape. I bought one that ran last year for $250. with less than 200 more in parts had a good running cart.

with all things considered i don't know if i would pay more than $300 for a motor, maybe little more with starter/generator with it. haven't priced a new starter but can't imagine they are cheap. my buying price would be based on how bad of shape my motor that needed replaced is.

i am in sorta that dilema with my G9, the motor is locked up ( i haven't had time to even look at it yet) and i am debating how much money to dump into it, if i had a chance to buy a motor for less than 400 i might do that. problem is you never know what your getting, usually better off buying the parts and rebuilding.
