Yamaha G16 Rear Seat On G8
I finally got the rear seat installed on my G8. It was a G16 kit that I bought for about $250. It does require a minimal amount of welding but works just fine. I used the part that the seat back rests bolt to for the rear seat back rest, and that is what required the welding. It was pretty simple to install.

Re: Yamaha G16 Rear Seat On G8
I put a G16 rear seat on my G8 as well. I was able to find an old used one for $100 but the padding was rotten so I had to make my own vinyl seat parts. Also I wanted my cart to still fit into the back of my truck with the tailgate closed so I modified the footrest to fold up. This required cutting and welding. I lowered the footrest a little too. This seat actually just locks on with 2 bolts on the front seat backs and the folding rear footrest locks it down. I could take the whole seat off in less than 5 minutes.
I have cables now that supports the outer edge of the rear foot rest and I welded a receiver tube for a hitch under it so that there was no chance of the foot rest slipping under the rear bumper. |

Re: Yamaha G16 Rear Seat On G8
for putting the G16 seat on a G8.... what all welding was required? I see the metal that was welded to the existing seat bracket, was any other welding needed?

Re: Yamaha G16 Rear Seat On G8
No welding needed if you get a G19 tru G22 rear facing seat assembly that has the seat back mounted to the frame work of the seat assembly (witch is normal). You will need to cut though. The "bag rack" frame work where the sweater basket/bag support will need to be cut (remove the OEM seat back cover and cut just above wear the OEM seat back bolts on). And as shown in Moes picture, use a "heavy" flat steel plate as the rear facing seat plat form base mount. Good luck

Hello just got a G8 and want to add a rear seat.
Can you send me link which kit to buy for the g19 so I don’t have to do any welding as per your comments. If you have pics it will be even better. Thank you for all the help. |
