Default G5 Cannot Get it to Start!

I am having a heck of a time trying to get this car started. I am getting gas to the carb and am getting strong spark at the plug but it will not even pop. I am getting a strong smell of gas while it is turning over, so I am assuming I getting gas through the carb. Even tried using a little starting fluid, coughs and sputters a little but that is it. Any ideas?

You mentioned everything except air. Make sure the filter is clean and not restricting air flow.

Welcome ! Have you taken a compression test (at "wide open throttle, should be 160 to 175 lbs), sounds like you may have had a push rod come loose. If the case set valves at 4 thousanths when the engine is cold. Good luck dave

Smallblock,
I thought about compression, but don't have a gauge. When I had the plug out and turning over the motor, there seemed to be quite a bit of compression, but I am wondering if I should start there.
